FCMB Group Plc has appointed Adepeju Adebajo, the former chief executive of Lafarge Africa, as an Independent Non‑Executive Director on its board. The appointment was disclosed in a filing to the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Friday and has been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The Group said the addition of Adebajo is intended to strengthen board oversight and support its transformation and growth agenda. Adebajo brings more than 30 years of experience across industry, renewable energy, agriculture, finance and consulting, having worked with clients and teams throughout Sub‑Saharan Africa and Europe.
Adebajo holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She currently chairs the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund and serves as Transformation Lead at Etex Group, which includes Nigerite and Emenite Limited. Her previous roles include chief executive officer of Lafarge Africa Plc’s cement business, as well as CEO positions at Mouka Limited, Lumos Nigeria and UTC Nigeria Plc. Earlier in her career she was Assistant General Manager at United Bank for Africa Plc. In 2025 she founded Climate Governance Initiative Nigeria, an affiliate of the World Economic Forum, and she has been appointed to the Forum’s Council on Climate and Nature Governance for the 2025‑2027 term.
FCMB Group noted that Adebajo’s broad leadership background is expected to enhance governance and strategic execution across the organization. The company reiterated that the CBN’s approval confirms compliance with regulatory requirements for board appointments.
The appointment reflects FCMB’s ongoing effort to reinforce its board composition with seasoned professionals who can contribute to the Group’s long‑term strategic goals.
