Afrobeat star David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has been announced as an inductee for the 2026 Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia. The ceremony will take place on 1 June in Atlanta’s Historic Westside district, where inductees receive plaques along the walk that commemorates their impact on Black culture and global music.

The Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame was established by the Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus to honour artists, entertainers and cultural figures who have shaped Black music and entertainment worldwide. This year’s class includes rapper Ludacris, Atlanta‑based philanthropist Paul Morton, gospel singer Maynard Jackson and former Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson, joining Davido in the roster of honourees.

Davido’s induction adds him to a short list of African musicians previously recognized by the organization, which includes the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. The accolade arrives as the singer marks fifteen years in the industry. In a recent post on his X account, he reflected, “God is the best of all planners! 15 years in da game,” acknowledging the milestone.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Davido launched his professional music career in 2011 and released his debut album, Omo Baba Olowo, the following year. The record blended Afrobeats and hip‑hop and featured the hit single “Dami Duro,” which propelled him into the Nigerian music scene. Over the next fifteen years he has issued five studio albums— Omo Baba Olowo (2012), A Good Time (2019), A Better Time (2020), Timeless (2023) and 5ive (2025)—and amassed a string of chart‑topping tracks across Africa and beyond.

International recognition has accompanied his commercial success. Davido earned three nominations at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in 2024, including Best Global Music Album for Timeless. He has also collected numerous awards and nominations on the African continent and in Europe, cementing his status as one of the leading contemporary Afrobeat artists.

The upcoming induction underscores Davido’s influence on the global music landscape and highlights the growing presence of African talent in institutions traditionally focused on Western artists. As the Walk of Fame ceremony approaches, organizers expect a gathering of industry leaders, fellow inductees and fans to celebrate the contributions of these cultural icons to Black entertainment worldwide.
