**APC Chairman Warns Aspirants Against Disruptive Conduct Ahead of Party Primaries**
Abuja – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, issued a stern warning on Monday to any aspirant who might engage in conduct that could jeopardize the party’s upcoming primary elections. Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda emphasized that the party would not tolerate violence, unrest, or any actions that undermine the credibility of the primaries. He made it clear that violators would face immediate suspension.
In a statement released ahead of the scheduled primary exercises, Yilwatda highlighted that the APC would enforce disciplinary measures against any candidate or supporter found instigating disorder or sponsoring violent acts. He stated, “We have built a reputation as a nationally accepted political platform, and personal ambition will not eclipse the collective interest of the party.”
Yilwatda further underscored the importance of a peaceful and sportsmanlike approach to the electoral process. He noted, “In every democratic contest, only one person will emerge victorious. What matters is the spirit with which the process is approached.” He urged aspirants to accept the outcomes of the primaries without resorting to intimidation or sabotage.
Additionally, the chairman called on party members, officials, and other stakeholders to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration and to avoid actions that could create tension within the political landscape. He pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects and reforms under the Tinubu government as part of the APC’s agenda as the nation looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity, Yilwatda assured that the APC leadership would ensure the primary process remains transparent and cohesive. This warning comes as the party prepares for a tightly contested selection of candidates for upcoming elections at various levels, a process that will significantly shape its prospects in the next national vote.
The APC’s firm stance on discipline and order reflects an effort to present a united front and to avoid the internecine disputes that have historically plagued primary contests in Nigeria. Observers note that the party’s ability to enforce these warnings could influence voter confidence and the overall stability of the upcoming electoral cycle.
