Bauchi State Police have taken a 19‑year‑old man into custody in connection with an armed robbery that struck Bara Village in Kirfi Local Government Area early on May 9, 2026. The suspect, identified as Naziru Alhaji Usman of Tudun Sullubawa Hamlet, was arrested after police investigations linked him to the crime.
According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib, the robbery was reported to the Bara Police Out‑Station at approximately 6 a.m. by Ibrahim, a resident of the village. Ibrahim recounted that at about 3 a.m. five armed men forced entry into his home, brandishing sticks and cutlasses, assaulted him, and fled with a variety of valuables.
Items reported stolen included a bow and arrow, five mobile phones, two solar panels and cash amounting to ₦422,000. Following the complaint, officers from the Bara Out‑Station and Kirfi Division launched an immediate operation. Intelligence gathering led to the arrest of Usman, during which police recovered a bow and arrow, a cutlass and a solar panel believed to be linked to the robbery.
Usman remains in police custody and is reportedly cooperating with investigators. The command said that efforts to locate the remaining perpetrators and retrieve the rest of the stolen property are ongoing. The case will be transferred to the Bauchi State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation before the suspect faces prosecution.
Commissioner of Police CP Sani‑Omolori Aliyu praised the rapid response of the operatives, emphasizing the police command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
