Bauchi State Police have apprehended a 19-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Bara Village, located in the Kirfi Local Government Area, early on May 9, 2026. The suspect, identified as Naziru Alhaji Usman from Tudun Sullubawa Hamlet, was arrested following police investigations that linked him to the crime.
According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib, the robbery was reported to the Bara Police Out-Station around 6 a.m. by a village resident named Ibrahim. Ibrahim described how, at approximately 3 a.m., five armed men forcibly entered his home, wielding sticks and cutlasses. They assaulted him and made off with various valuables, including a bow and arrow, five mobile phones, two solar panels, and cash totaling ₦422,000.
In response to the complaint, officers from the Bara Out-Station and Kirfi Division initiated an immediate operation. Through intelligence gathering, they were able to arrest Usman, during which police recovered a bow and arrow, a cutlass, and a solar panel believed to be connected to the robbery. Usman is currently in police custody and is reportedly cooperating with investigators.
The police command has stated that efforts to locate the remaining perpetrators and recover the rest of the stolen property are ongoing. The case will be forwarded to the Bauchi State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation before the suspect faces prosecution. Commissioner of Police CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu commended the swift response of the operatives and reaffirmed the police command’s dedication to protecting lives and property across the state. He also encouraged residents to continue providing timely and reliable information, emphasizing that community collaboration is vital in the fight against crime.
