The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially refuted social‑media rumours that it had altered the timetable for its 2027 primary elections. In a statement posted on the party’s verified page, the APC reiterated that the schedule previously released remains in force.
According to the clarification, the House of Representatives primary is set for Friday, 15 May, followed by the Senate primary on Monday, 18 May. The State House of Assembly contest will take place on Wednesday, 20 May, with the governorship primary slated for Thursday, 21 May. The presidential primary is scheduled for Saturday, 23 May.
The party said the notice was issued after “false and misleading reports” circulated on various online platforms, suggesting the dates had been moved. The APC stressed that no changes have been made and urged supporters to rely on official communications rather than unverified postings.
By confirming the original timetable, the APC aims to maintain organisational stability ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle and to prevent confusion among candidates and voters. The statement comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations for upcoming contests, and it underscores the importance of verifying information before it spreads online.
Stakeholders are expected to monitor the APC’s official channels for any future updates, although the party has indicated that no revisions to the primary calendar are anticipated at this stage.
