Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi visited Edo State on Saturday, urging supporters not to be discouraged by the presidential election results. Speaking to a large crowd after a “thank‑you” tour that took him from New Benin Market, along Mission Road and Sapele Road, to Adesuwa Road, Obi called on voters to maintain momentum by backing all Labour candidates in the state House of Assembly and governorship elections scheduled for March 18.
Obi emphasized that the effort begun on February 25 must be completed with mass voting for Labour candidates in the upcoming elections. “We have begun the journey of a new Nigeria. The movement is real, and nobody can stop it,” he said. “Nigeria must not be allowed to remain the way it is. There must be a paradigm shift to a better, more prosperous nation. We will continue to vote for the Labour Party.” He also announced that a retreat would be organized for victorious Labour candidates to equip them with strategies for reshaping the country’s political narrative.
National Chairman Julius Abure reinforced the message, stating that Labour candidates for the Edo State House of Assembly had not stepped down for anyone and that no candidate was being sponsored by another party. He appealed to residents to turn out in large numbers to secure victory for the party.
Earlier, state Chairman Kelly Agbaloi thanked Obi and Abure for their visit, noting that their presence further energized “Obidient” supporters across Edo State.
