Senator Uba Sani, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for Kaduna State, has pledged to equip primary healthcare centres (PHCs) in all 255 wards, aiming to bring health services closer to residents. Speaking on a Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Kaduna Hausa phone‑in programme on Saturday, Sani acknowledged Governor Nasir El Rufai’s effort in establishing a PHC in each ward. He said he would build on that foundation by adding two more PHCs per ward, fully equipping them and staffing them with qualified medical personnel.
Sani recalled his previous interventions, noting that he had equipped seven PHCs in his senatorial district, covering Kaduna North and Kaduna South local government areas as well as Kajuru, Chikun, and Igabi‑Giwa area councils. He also highlighted the construction and outfitting of a modern obstetrics and gynaecology centre in Birnin Gwari local government area. In addition to the PHCs, he built staff quarters for medical personnel, a model he intends to replicate for the two additional PHCs he plans to establish if elected.
Beyond health initiatives, Sani cited his legislative record, having sponsored a notable 32 bills in the upper chamber. He also emphasized his contributions to education and skills development across the state, including the construction of hostels, ICT centres, and skills acquisition centres. Specific projects mentioned were ICT centres at Government Senior Secondary School, Kawo (Kaduna North), Government Secondary School, Maimuna Gwarzo (Kaduna South), and Turunku ward in Igabi LGA. Last month, he laid the foundation for another ICT centre in Kudan local government area to alleviate students’ difficulties in traveling to Zaria for JAMB examinations.
Sani concluded by reminding listeners that the local government areas he referenced are those of the PDP and New Nigerian Peoples Party gubernatorial candidates, who have previously held public service positions.
