More than 120 artisans received a major boost on Wednesday as the Federal Government, in partnership with EGO Foundation and Access Corporation, equipped them with high-demand vocational skills and starter kits to launch their own businesses. The initiative, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Education, aims to strengthen Nigeria’s push for vocational education and economic empowerment.
The program provided intensive hands-on training in fields like garment making, fashion design, beauty and cosmetology, solar installation, hospitality management, catering, and entrepreneurship. Participants also received business management support to either expand existing ventures or start new ones.
Toluwase Olaniyan, Executive Director of EGO Foundation, said the training was designed to improve employability and give artisans the practical knowledge and business skills needed to build sustainable livelihoods. “This initiative shows what can happen when government, private sector, and development partners join forces to tackle unemployment and poverty through skills acquisition,” he said.
Access Corporation sponsored the essential work tools and starter kits, allowing beneficiaries to immediately apply their new skills, boost productivity, and generate income. Olaniyan commended the Ministry of Education and Access Corporation for their roles, urging participants to build on their training and become ambassadors of excellence in their fields.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting the training and tools would significantly improve their economic prospects. Stakeholders highlighted the importance of practical skills in fighting unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship, emphasizing the power of public-private partnerships in promoting youth empowerment and inclusive growth across Nigeria.
