African mobility company Moove has joined the continent’s unicorn ranks after securing a $250 million Series C investment that values the business at $2.1 billion. The financing round, announced this week, marks a significant jump from the company’s previously reported $750 million valuation in 2024 and positions Moove among Africa’s most valuable private technology enterprises.
Founded in Nigeria in 2020, Moove provides vehicle financing and financial services to mobility entrepreneurs across multiple African markets. The company’s latest funding milestone continues a striking pattern within the Endeavor network: Africa’s last four companies to achieve unicorn status — Moove, Tyme, Moniepoint and MNT-Halan — have all been Endeavor-backed ventures.
“This is another powerful example of what happens when African entrepreneurs solve real, mass-market problems and build with global scale in mind,” said Alison Collier, managing director of Endeavor South Africa. “The $2.1 billion valuation matters not simply as a headline number, but as further evidence of the significant value being created within Africa’s private markets.”
Collier noted that as these companies mature, they are likely to generate credible exit opportunities and realised returns for investors, helping recycle capital and confidence into the next generation of businesses.
The development aligns with recent research by Endeavor South Africa, the SA SME Fund and the Southern African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SAVCA), which documented growing evidence of successful South African venture-backed exits and attractive realised returns. The study points to a developing pipeline of future venture capital exits as the ecosystem matures, with substantial value still held in high-growth private companies.
Moove’s ascent reflects broader investor appetite for African Fintech and mobility solutions that address fundamental infrastructure gaps. The company’s model — financing vehicles for ride-hailing and logistics drivers who typically lack access to traditional credit — has demonstrated both commercial viability and social impact across its operating markets.
With this latest capital injection, Moove is expected to accelerate expansion across existing markets while deepening its financial services offerings to the mobility entrepreneurs who form its core customer base.
