Napoli are actively exploring the striker market as they seek to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the new season, with the club having initiated contact with Arsenal regarding Gabriel Jesus, according to reports from Italy.

The Brazil international has been identified as a primary target for the Serie A side, though the 27-year-old is understood to be evaluating his options before committing to a move. Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, has two years remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium but has seen his playing time fluctuate under Mikel Arteta.

Beyond the Jesus pursuit, Napoli’s sporting department is monitoring several alternative profiles. Joshua Zirkzee, who impressed during his breakthrough season at Bologna before earning a move to Manchester United, features on the club’s shortlist. Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson is also admired by the Neapolitan hierarchy, though any move for the Senegal international would likely prove more complex given his recent arrival in the Premier League.

In addition to established names, younger options are under consideration. Liam Delap, the 21-year-old Ipswich Town striker who excelled in the Championship last season, has been offered to the club. The Manchester City academy graduate, who spent last term on loan at Portman Road, represents a different profile — younger, with significant resale potential and experience in English football.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Lucca’s future at the club remains uncertain. The 23-year-old Italian forward, who joined from Ajax in 2023, could be permitted to leave should a suitable offer arrive. His departure would create both squad space and financial flexibility for a marquee arrival.

Napoli’s search reflects a broader strategic recalibration under new leadership. With Victor Osimhen’s future still unresolved amid persistent interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League clubs, the club is preparing for multiple scenarios. The Nigerian striker, who scored 26 league goals in the title-winning 2022-23 campaign, has a release clause reported to be in excess of €120 million.

The club’s approach suggests a desire to secure reinforcements early, avoiding the compressed timelines that complicated previous windows. Sporting director Giovanni Manna, appointed in June, is tasked with balancing immediate competitiveness with long-term squad planning.

Arsenal’s stance on Jesus will be pivotal. The London club invested £45 million in the forward two summers ago and may resist a cut-price departure unless a replacement is lined up. For Napoli, the coming weeks will determine whether they land a proven Premier League performer or pivot toward emerging talent.

The transfer window remains fluid, but Napoli’s intent is clear: they are building for a title challenge, with or without Osimhen.
