Presidential election: Amaechi, Tonye Cole worked against Tinubu – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has accused former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Tonye Cole of working against the emergence of the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu.

Wike alleged that Amaechi and Cole opposed APC’s power rotation to the Southern part of Nigeria.

Speaking during a state broadcast, Wike said: “Amaechi and his protégé, Tonye Cole, actively opposed the demand for power shift to the South and worked against their party’s presidential candidate in Rivers State.

“When the President-elect emerged as the winner, Cole rushed to congratulate him on his Instagram handle but deleted the post when he was criticised.”

In June 2022, Tinubu had defeated the likes of Amaechi, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and Senate President Ahmad Lawan to emerge as APC presidential candidate.
