In preparation for the 2023/2024 Lagos State academic calendar, the state government has begun work to maintain its academic excellence. Stakeholders have been assured that the government will prioritize harmonised and standardised instructional days for all schools, ensuring that children receive the minimum required number of learning days and hours.

Mrs. Abiola Seriki‑Ayeni, Director‑General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance, disclosed this in a statement on Friday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Alausa, Ikeja. She explained, “While the calendar may seem like a minor detail, it is crucial when addressing larger issues in education. Throughout this administration, our office, in collaboration with stakeholders, has worked to enforce the calendar, promote greater understanding, and ensure that all calendar-related measures support school activities. This guarantees that children receive the minimum standard of learning days and hours, and, most importantly, that standardisation is achieved across both public and private schools.”

Mr. Remi Abdul, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at OEQA, added that stakeholder engagement has become an annual event. It serves to chart progress for educational activities in both public and private schools below the tertiary level in the state.
