Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya praised the high turnout and peaceful conduct of the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections. Voting alongside his wife Amina at the Yahaya Umaru 010 Government Science Secondary School polling unit, the governor—who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate—described the exercise as encouraging. He noted that reports from various parts of the state echoed this sentiment, underscoring voters’ readiness to choose their leaders. “With this development, I expect that the peaceful nature of Gombe should be maintained,” Yahaya said.
Similarly, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate Khamisu Mailantarki, who cast his ballot at the Usman Kafinta 010 polling unit, lauded the smooth process and expressed confidence in his prospects. “I’m very confident that I will emerge victorious because of the overwhelming support of the people and the eventual pronouncement of votes,” he declared. Mailantarki added, “So far so good; the election is going well, especially in this polling unit. People are abiding by the laws. We are very confident and see no problem. We want to appreciate INEC’s effort in improving the quality of the election. We hope this standard is replicated across the state. We will have a credible election, and I am satisfied with the process in this polling unit.”
