Assembly Election 2023: Ekiti polls peaceful, says REC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of Ekiti State, Prof. Abayomi Salami, said the state assembly election in Ekiti was largely peaceful except for the only challenge in the low turnout of voters.

The REC said this while addressing newsmen on Saturday at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission after election monitoring.

Salami said apart from the low turnout of the electorate across the state, the election was very successful.

He said the residents should expect that the results to be declared would be a true reflection of their wish because the process was transparent and then the collation and the declaration would also be very transparent and open.

He also commended the efforts made by INEC in the assembly elections, adding there was no report on the failure of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System.

“It worked excellently well all through the process of the poll,” he said.
