Election: Zamfara Speaker, Magarya disappoints APC, loses seat to PDP’s Ismail

Nasiru Muazu Magarya, the Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, who contested under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has lost his Zurmi West constituency to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Bilyaminu Ismail.

Announcing the result on Monday, INEC returning officer, Muddasir Ismail Moriki, said Magarya polled 9,530 votes while Muddasir received 1, 213 votes.

Moriki said, “I, Muddasir Ismail, the returning officer of the 2023 Zurmi West State Assembly Constituency election held on March 18, 2023, the election was contested by candidates with the following votes.

“Therefore, Isma’il Bilyaminu of the PDP having satisfied the requirements of the law has been declared elected.”
