Kwara State Governor Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq said the All Progressives Congress’s victory in Saturday’s polls underscored citizens’ desire to continue the positive progress recorded over the past three years. In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor pledged to build on the gains of his first tenure. “For me, the victory is a call to consolidate and further spread the gains of the past three and a half years and do much more for the people. I pledge to recommit myself to this,” he declared. He added that together they would build a Kwara whose politics are anchored in equitable opportunities, an expanded economic base, and the dividends of democracy, all within an atmosphere of peace and respect for human dignity.

The governor described the win as “truly humbling,” giving glory to God and attributing it to the people’s understanding of history, appreciation of past progress, and commitment to a greater tomorrow. He said the result reflects the wishes of Kwarans at home and in the diaspora to sustain recent gains and acknowledges their appreciation of modest efforts to improve the state’s lot. “My profound appreciation goes to all stakeholders for the truly pan‑Kwara mandate—young or old, men and women, traditional and religious institutions, civil servants, private‑sector players, thought leaders, political leaders, market men and women, artisans, the media, students, and our young ones who energized our communities with the sweet, creative chant of ‘Maa se lo’,” he said.

Abdul Razaq dedicated the victory to God and to the people of the north, south, and central parts of the state, emphasizing that power resides with the people. He commended the peaceful conduct of the election, congratulating security agencies, the electoral umpire, and political elites for making Kwara’s polls the most peaceful in Nigeria.

In his reaction, APC state chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi described the party’s win as a reflection of the people’s love for the APC and a reaffirmation of the mandate given during the popular “Otoge” (Enough is Enough) movement in 2019, which marked a turning point in Kwara politics and led to the defeat of the then‑ruling party. He noted that Abdul Razaq’s victory is a major boost for the APC in a state that had been a PDP stronghold for over two decades, and that the result is expected to further consolidate the party’s hold and pave the way for more development projects benefiting the people.

Fagbemi assured that the party would work tirelessly to fulfill its promises and bring positive change to all sectors of the state’s economy. He thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission for the efficient conduct of the election, praising it as an improvement over previous polls, and expressed gratitude to traditional rulers, religious leaders, political leaders, union heads, and various professional and market associations for helping keep the state peaceful during and after the election. “Kwarans are the real winners of this election,” he said.

Finally, he praised the APC campaign team, led by energetic youth leader Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, and all members for their tremendous efforts that made a lasting difference, noting that their contributions will be long‑remembered by the state.
