Kano gov poll victory excites Osun NNPP

The Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party has congratulated the Kano State governor-elect, Mr. Yusuf Abba, on his victory in the last Saturday’s governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had announced Abba, the NNPP candidate at the poll, the winner of the election after polling 1,019,602 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Nasir Gawuna, who got 890,705 votes.

A statement signed by the Osun NNPP chairman, Tosin Odeyemi, obtained in Osogbo on Tuesday, described Abba’s victory as a clear indication of the trust Kano people have in the party and its candidate.

It noted that the leadership provided by the NNPP presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, in Kano State has also helped the party to secure the landmark victory at the poll.

The statement further read, “We are excited because Abba defeated the sitting deputy governor in Kano State. That showed the love the people have for him and the NNPP.

“We also commend the political leadership that Senator Kwankwaso has been providing for us in the NNPP, which he often says will pave way for the party all over the country. We believe this will happen sometime soon.

“We pray for divine wisdom and wherewithal for the governor-elect and enjoin the people of Kano State to join hands with him to develop the state. We are also hopeful that the NNPP’s victory in Kano will be a launching pad for the party to spread and take root across the country, especially in the South-West region.”
