The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 28 individuals, including a cleric, in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Thursday. The operation took place in the Mandate Area and was carried out by operatives of the EFCC Ilorin Zonal Command after receiving intelligence about fraudsters active in the region.

Preliminary investigations identified the suspects as a cleric, twin brothers, six university students, mining operators, and various other private professionals. Among those detained were cleric Toheeb Albarka; twin brothers Lambe Kehinde and Lambe Taye; and dog traders Francis Stephen, Olabode Yusuf and Musbaudeen Akorede. The six undergraduates arrested were Moshood Okunola, Kayode Aderemi, Ayobami Olorunfemi, Paul Ayomide, Agboola Marvellous and Adebisi Olatunde.

Additional suspects included Olaleye Solomon (miner), Akinade Samuel (computer technician), Damilola Shagaya (real‑estate developer), Muhammed Awal (graphic designer), Adam Mubarak (anti‑money laundering analyst), Ogundiran Nathaniel (tiler), Jamiu Ishola (printer), Dauda Tunde (plumber), Abdullahi Sikiru (Bet Naija agent), Kasali Afeez Adegoke (website developer), Jordan Adeyinka (wears/shoe dealer), driver Ojeniyi Boluwatife, as well as Adedamola Samson, Olarewaju Adisa Taofeek, Adewale Oloro and Omogbolahan Ibrahim.

Items seized from the suspects included ten exotic cars, various laptops and cell phones, a printer, and other equipment. The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwuajaren, said the suspects will be arraigned in court after the agency completes its ongoing investigations.
