The University of Port Harcourt Alumni Association has congratulated Abia State Governor‑elect Alex Otti on his victory in the March 18 poll. In a statement issued Saturday by national general‑secretary Dagogo Edmundson, the association described Otti’s win as resounding and said that, as governor, he “will symbolize a new dawn and fresh breath for the good people of Abia State.”
UNIPORT alumni president Ule Williams and the association’s members expressed delight at Otti’s election and confidence in his ability to lead the state. Otti, a former banker and alumnus of the university, currently serves as chairman of the association’s Board of Trustees. The group praised his “staying power, resilience and continued perseverance,” which enabled him to finish strong on his long journey to Government House.
The association noted that Otti’s emergence as governor is an important milestone in the annals of the alumni body and a source of pride for its members. It affirmed confidence that Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, as Governor of Abia State, will bring meaningful reforms and reset the state for palpable development. The association prayed that God would grant him wisdom and strength to discharge his duties for the betterment of humanity.
