The Abia State House of Assembly has denied any plan to impeach Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. Deputy Speaker Ifeanyi Uchendu made the statement to the press after meeting the governor at the Governor’s Lodge in Aba on Saturday. He urged the public to disregard the circulating rumor, noting that the House has not even reconvened since the state elections. “We are still considering a date to reconvene after the holiday period,” Uchendu said. “There is no plan to impeach the governor, and the people of Abia State are satisfied with his performance. Even if he leaves office in the next two months, he will do so peacefully because he is a peaceful man.”

Majority Leader Solomon Akpulonu echoed Uchendu’s remarks, asserting that Governor Ikpeazu has done nothing to merit impeachment. He called the allegations “fake news” and emphasized the House’s continued support for the governor throughout his tenure. “We interacted with him today and will keep supporting him until the end of his term,” Akpulonu said. “Disregard these rumors; they are merely the imagination of those who spread false information.”
