man, Osimhen shine at Pitch awards

correspondent, Johnny Edward, has been named the Football Journalist of the Year (Print) at the eighth edition of the Nigeria Pitch Awards, Sunday PUNCh reports

Edward won the award for the fourth consecutive time after also clinching it last year.

Francis Uzoho of Omonoia FC won Goalie of the Year after he edged the duo of Hapoel Jerusalem shotstopper Adebayo Adeleye and Victor Sochima of Rivers United.

Ajax defender Calvin Bassey won the defender of the year title, beating Porto’ Zaidu Sanusi and Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong.

The Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was named the King of the Pitch and was also adjudged the striker of the year after he beat Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi to the award.

Barcelona Femenine Foward, Asisat Oshoala was also won the Queen of the Pitch award ahead of Gift Monday.

After the occasion, a worn-out Osimhen conveyed his gratitude to the organisers and expressed his joy over the prizes.

The Super Eagles will be hoping to avenge their 1-0 home loss as they depart for Bissau today for the reverse fixture of their 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
