Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command engaged terrorists in a gun duel on Monday afternoon along Danmusa/Yantumaki Road in Danmusa Local Government Area. During the clash, a terrorist was killed and the police recovered an AK‑47 rifle.
The command’s spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, explained that the terrorists had blocked the road near Kesassa Village. “On March 27, 2023, at about 2:30 p.m., a distress call was received reporting that terrorists were sporadically firing AK‑47 rifles and had blocked Danmusa–Yantumaki Road,” he said. “Consequently, the DPO Danmusa Division led a team of policemen to the area, engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, and successfully repelled them.”
Isah reported that, after scanning the scene, the police neutralised one terrorist and recovered his body. An AK‑47 rifle with twenty‑two rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition was also seized. He added that many other terrorists were believed to have been killed or to have fled the scene with gunshot wounds. “Search parties are combing the nearby bushes to arrest any remaining suspects and recover additional bodies,” he said.
The spokesman appealed to community members in the area to report any person found or seen with a suspected injury to the nearest police station. He concluded by commending the police for their “uncommon courage, gallantry and professionalism” in dealing with the hoodlums.
