Chairman of the Edo State Chapter of the Labour Party, Kelly Ogbaloi, has dismissed reports of a suspension of the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, stating that the alleged action was carried out by individuals who are not recognized members of the party. In a signed press statement issued on Saturday, Ogbaloi explained that the names cited as having suspended the national chairman are unknown to the Labour Party in Esan East, Ward 4, and therefore lack any authority to take such action.
He emphasized, “I must say that the Labour Party in Edo has nothing to do with the purported suspension of the national chairman, Barr. Julius Abure.” Ogbaloi listed the individuals—Martin Osigbemhe, Lucky Shaibu, Iseh Zekeri, Omogbai Faruk, Abokhailu Aliu, Ayohkaire Lateef, and Job Elamah—as strangers to the party’s leaders and members in the affected area, describing their actions as “inconsequential, null and void” and urging the public to disregard them entirely.
Ogbaloi further characterized the signatories as “faceless people” whose sole aim is to tarnish the party’s reputation. He added, “We are law‑abiding people in our party, working hard to build a new Nigeria of our dreams. These faceless people just want to paint a different narrative, which we are not ready to succumb to at this time.” He warned that no anonymous group would be allowed to spread falsehoods about the national chairman after his considerable efforts to develop the party, and affirmed that the party would resist such attacks with collective strength.
The Edo State party leadership has also passed a vote of confidence in the national chairman, reaffirming their support for his performance and declaring their continued backing.
