The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, said on Sunday that he never campaigned for any politician or spoken on their behalf in the build‑up to the 2023 General Elections. He made the statement while addressing the congregation at the church’s headquarters, Faith Tabernacle in Ota, Ogun State, in response to a leaked audio published by a media platform (not The) that featured a conversation between the bishop and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi. The recording, released on the eve of the presidential poll, discussed mobilising Christians in Kwara and the South‑West states to vote for Obi.
While indirectly referring to the alleged phone conversation, Oyedepo reiterated that he has never spoken to any group of people on behalf of any politician. He added that all political parties sought his prayers and advice before the election, and he provided them. “Nobody has ever told me what to say in this world,” he claimed.
Oyedepo stressed, “I have never campaigned for anybody or spoken on anybody’s behalf, and I will not do that till I go to heaven.” He noted that every political party in the country approached him for prayers and counsel. “I advised them; some took the advice and saw results, while those who refused are still pursuing the same path. If they come to me again, I will tell them the same thing—it doesn’t change.”
