The Oyo State Waste Management Task Force has begun issuing abatement notices to companies, industries and households that lack waste bins. In a statement, the agency’s Chairman, Mrs. Aderonke Adedayo, stressed that providing bins is essential for a clean and healthy environment. She explained that the move is part of the state government’s broader effort to ensure proper waste management and environmental hygiene, noting that bins help prevent littering and the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on streets.
Mrs. Adedayo called on landlords and property owners to supply waste bins for their premises and to comply with the state’s waste‑management laws. “The Task Force will ensure proper waste management in the state because it is crucial to the well‑being of residents. The use of waste bins is a must in Oyo State, as this will help us prevent the spread of diseases,” she said.
Mr. Adey Adewuyi, Managing Director of Mottainai Recycling Limited, warned that the notices serve as a precursor to stricter enforcement of waste‑bin usage by businesses and residents throughout the state. He affirmed that Mottainai will collaborate with the Task Force, environmental officers and other relevant agencies to ensure compliance. Mr. Adewuyi urged residents to adopt the habit of using waste bins and disposing of waste responsibly, adding, “We are working tirelessly to ensure a cleaner Oyo State. Mottainai is partnering with the Oyo State Environmental Task Force and other agencies to enforce the use of waste bins across the state.”
