Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed three new special aides, but the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says none of them are party members. The party’s state chairman, Malam AbdulSalam AbdulRazaq, made this claim in a statement released to journalists in Ilorin on Thursday.
Earlier, Governor AbdulRazaq appointed four NNPP members as Special Advisers as part of his inclusive‑governance agenda. However, the party chairman asserted that the recent appointees were unknown to the NNPP in the state. “The appointments were not routed through the party; there was no nomination or input from party members and executives,” he explained. He added that the individuals who benefited from the appointments are “Taliban group members,” not NNPP members.
The chairman also noted that former NNPP gubernatorial candidate Prof. Shuaibu AbdulRaheem acted unilaterally, a move that did not serve the party’s interests. During the build‑up to the recent general election, various contestants and parties sought to form alliances with the NNPP, but the party declined those overtures. “NNPP in Kwara is not collapsing its structures with APC or any other political party,” the chairman emphasized.
Finally, the statement called on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to lift the bans on local government elections promptly. The NNPP is prepared to field candidates in all 16 local government areas of the state. (Source: News Agency of Nigeria)
