I’ll increase Shariah courtrooms in Kwara – New Grand Khadi, Justice Kamaldeen

The Kwara State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen as the substantive Grand Khadi.

The designation was considered at the Committee of a Whole chaired by Speaker Yakubu Salihu after a screening on Thursday in Ilorin.

Justice Kamaldeen promised to increase Shariah courtrooms in the state for easy access to justice, NAN reports.

He said the outcome of the Special Committee, which comprises academic and legal practitioners, would guide the extension of the court.

On the increasing cases of divorce, the jurist recommended dialogue and reconciliation as the best option against litigation.

Justice Kamaldeen assured of continued use of Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, mechanism to reduce marriage dissolution.

The National Judicial Commission, NJC, approved the substantive Grand Khadi’s appointment in January 2023.

Kamaldeen was named Acting Grand Khadi on February 16, 2022, after his predecessor Justice Muhammad Ola AbdulKadir retired from the service.
