Six senior police officers of the Kwara State Command, recently promoted, have been urged to continue giving their best as a way of reciprocating the confidence placed in them by Inspector General of Police Alhaji Alkali Baba. The charge was delivered by Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Paul Odama, in Ilorin, the state capital, on Friday, during a ceremony that decorated the six officers who had been elevated to higher ranks.
According to a statement by SP Okasanmi Ajayi, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Kwara State Command, the promotion list released by IGP Usman Alkali Baba, NPM, FDC, PSC, CFR, included three Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP) promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and three Superintendents of Police (SP) promoted to CSP. The officers promoted to ACP are CSPs Fatai Odunewu, Franklin, and Babarinsa. The officers promoted to CSP are SPs Mustapha Olayemi, Umar Jerry, and Abiola Mustapha.
While expressing appreciation to the Inspector General and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission for the promotions, the Commissioner reiterated that the promoted officers must match the IGP’s confidence with continued hard work, noting that “the reward for hard work is more work.” He added that promotion is an added responsibility and encouraged all officers aspiring to advance to keep serving humanity and God, emphasizing that promotion ultimately comes from God.
The ceremony was assisted by DCP Steve Yabanet of the State CID, DCP Adekimi Ojo of the Operations Department, and DCP Nurudeen Abdulraheem, who heads Police Administration. The decorations took place in the presence of the officers’ wives and relatives at the Kwara State Police Conference Hall, Police Headquarters, Ilorin. Concluding the event, the Commissioner joked that the promoted officers had received their Easter and Ramadan gifts from IGP Usman Alkali Baba and therefore must reciprocate the gesture with more work, setting a good example for junior officers.
