Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos – The Department of State Services (DSS) has remained silent about the arrest and detention of Tomi Arayomi, founder of RIG Nation and Pioneer Church in the United Kingdom, and his wife, Tema, by its operatives at the airport on Friday. Although the exact reason for their arrest was not disclosed, reliable sources told our correspondent that Arayomi was detained for making “prophecies that are deemed to be inciting.” One source explained, “He was invited for questioning. He has been on our watchlist for some time now because of his speeches—his prophetic remarks about the elections.” Another source added that the questioning was related to recent comments he had made.
Information from Arayomi’s official Facebook page indicated that he was scheduled to be at his church branch in Abuja on Friday, April 7, for a program. Ahead of the elections, he had urged Nigerians to “vote for an outsider,” suggesting that the 2023 electoral process would initially produce Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress as president‑elect before circumstances changed.
Arayomi’s twin brother, Tobi Arayomi, also commented on the incident via his Instagram account (@tobiarayomi) on Friday. Tobi stated that his brother was apprehended by DSS operatives for alleged politics‑related prophecies. He later posted photos showing that Tomi and his wife had been released that evening, writing, “@tomiarayomi and @tahmar.india are out. Thank you all for your prayers.”
When our correspondent contacted the DSS spokesperson, Dr. Peter Afunnaya, for comment, Afunnaya redirected the inquiry, asking, “What did the pastor tell you? Have you called the pastor and he told you he was abducted or arrested?”
