Rangers International FC of Enugu will face host Sunshine Stars FC of Akure on Sunday, aiming to secure all three points and climb the Group B table. The match, a Day 13 encounter, will be played at the Akure Township Stadium, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Rangers’ technical adviser, Abdul Maikaba, prepared his side for the game during a briefing in Enugu on Saturday, as reported by club media officer Norbert Okolie. Maikaba expressed confidence that the team is ready to claim the three points needed to achieve its season‑end targets. “Sure, no two matches are the same, but I have a strong belief that we shall emerge victorious against Sunshine Stars,” he said. He noted that Sunshine Stars have made mid‑season signings and have performed well, including a draw in the previous home fixture between the two clubs. “We are determined to get the result we desire and improve our position on the log as the league winds down,” Maikaba added.
Recalling their first meeting, which ended 1‑1 after Rangers missed a late penalty, Maikaba emphasized the importance of playing their own game on a good pitch to secure the desired outcome. Currently, Rangers sit seventh in Group B with 13 points from 12 matches, while Sunshine Stars occupy sixth place with 17 points from 11 matches.
