Gunmen kidnapped popular businessman Alhaji Nasiru Na’ayya in the early hours of Monday in Gangarbi Village, Rogo Local Government Area, Kano State. An eyewitness who is also a relative of the victim, and who wishes to remain unnamed, confirmed the incident. He said the attackers stormed the businessman’s residence around midnight, firing sporadic shots into the air, which drew the attention of nearby neighbours.

When residents tried to stop the gunmen from abducting the victim, the assailants opened fire, killing one person instantly and wounding another, who is now receiving treatment at a hospital. The eyewitness noted that Gangarbi and neighboring villages such as Bari and Gwangwan have recently suffered a series of gunmen attacks.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the kidnapping. He said he is awaiting a detailed report from the Divisional Police Officer in the area and will provide further information to the correspondent as soon as it becomes available.
