The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) recovered N5,020,660 and ten cell phones from victims of an accident on the Kaduna‑Zaria road, according to a statement by the Corps’ Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, in Abuja. Corps Marshal Dauda Biu confirmed that no lives were lost.
The crash occurred at about 1:03 p.m. on Monday and involved a white Toyota Hiace bus (registration KTG13XG). The cause was identified as a tyre burst. Of the 11 occupants, eight sustained injuries—including fractures, cuts and bruises, while three escaped unharmed. The injured were taken to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika for treatment.
The recovered cash, phones and other luggage will be presented to the victims’ families as soon as possible. Palm oil and other items seized at the scene were handed over to the chairman of the palm‑oil sellers’ union. The vehicle was towed to the base, the recovered money was deposited in the duty room, and the obstruction was cleared successfully.
Corps Marshal Biu praised the Zaria Unit command patrol teams for their commitment to public safety and their honesty in recovering such a large sum. He also thanked the operatives for their resilience, professionalism and effective cooperation with other security agencies. He urged them and their colleagues nationwide to maintain this momentum and continue raising the standard of their daily performance.
