Following disruptions during their match‑day 13 Nigeria Professional Football League fixtures, both Wikki Tourists and Sunshine Stars FC of Akure have been sanctioned by the league’s Interim Management Committee (IMC).

Wikki Tourists were penalised for violent conduct toward match officials and Bayelsa United officials in their 2‑1 home defeat on Sunday. The IMC imposed a three‑point and three‑goal deduction, a fine of N2.5 million, and ordered the club to play the remainder of the season behind closed doors. In a jurisdiction notice signed by Davidson Owumi, Head of Operations of the IMC, Wikki Tourists were found to have breached Rule B8.21, Rule C11, Rule B13.52 and Rule B13.18 of the NPFL Framework and Rules. The point deduction drops the struggling side to the bottom of the table with nine points, rather than the 12 points it had earned from three wins and three draws.

Sunshine Stars also faced sanctions after their 1‑1 draw against Enugu Rangers on Sunday. The IMC fined the club N1 million for inadequate security at the match venue. A review of the match officials’ report indicated that the club failed to implement effective crowd control, as supporters threw objects onto the field, targeting players and officials and disrupting the match. The club now risks a possible stadium closure to fans if a similar breach occurs again.
