Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Prince Harry will attend King Charles’s coronation, scheduled for May 6 at Westminster Abbey. The announcement, posted on the palace’s website on Wednesday, also clarified that his wife, Meghan Markle, will not be present. “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet,” the statement read.
The couple’s representatives noted that an invitation was extended to the Sussexes in March, but it was initially unclear whether they would accept. The timing of the invitation followed the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, *Spare*, which detailed a strained relationship with the royal family. In the January 2023 book, Harry claimed that his older brother William attacked him during an argument about Meghan, an incident he said severely damaged their bond. He also discussed his struggles with drug use and his fraught relationship with his father during a March interview with Dr. Gabor Mate. Shortly after that interview aired, the royal household asked the Duke and Duchess to vacate Frogmore Cottage, their residence in Britain.
