Addis Ababa — The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs launched the National Anti‑Drug Movement today, aiming to foster a productive and healthy generation. The ministry emphasized that collaborative, organized activities involving all stakeholders across the country are essential for the movement’s sustainable success.
The launch was attended by senior officials from regional states, representatives from various universities, civil‑society organizations, and heads of youth and women affairs, among others. The national movement is planned to run for one year.
Minister of Women and Social Affairs Ergoge Tesfaye highlighted the youth’s potential to contribute significantly to the nation’s inclusive growth ambitions. She warned that without being drug‑free and disciplined, young people could cause serious harm to themselves, society, and the nation as a whole. Consequently, she called for urgent, coordinated action by all concerned actors to ensure a healthy and productive generation nationwide.
