The Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in Kebbi State, retired General Aminu Bande, has rejected the results that declared an All Progressives Congress victory in the recent election. On Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission in Kebbi announced that APC candidate Nasir Idris had won the governorship poll.

The Returning Officer, Professor Saidu Yusuf, presented the supplementary election results from last Saturday, showing Idris with 409,225 votes and Bande, the PDP’s closest rival, with 360,940 votes. Addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi, General Bande said he and the PDP would take the matter to court to reclaim “their mandate,” emphasizing that the PDP’s votes were genuine, credible, and verifiable.

He thanked PDP supporters across the state for their steadfast backing and pledged to explore all judicial avenues to secure the mandate. Bande also urged his supporters to maintain peace and order and called on the state government to unconditionally release more than 60 PDP members who are unlawfully detained in various jails.
