Olota Celebrates 5th Coronation Anniversary with Grandeur

The Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, marked the fifth anniversary of his ascension to the throne with a grand celebration on Wednesday May 10, 2023, at his palace in Ota, Ogun State. The high-profile event witnessed the commissioning of the new Olota Royal Residence at Oba Adeyemi Imperial Estate by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was the chairman of the occasion.

During the ceremony, Oba Obalanlege expressed his appreciation for Obasanjo’s presence and contributions to the construction of the royal residence. He also noted that the former president taught him a valuable lesson – that monarchs also prostrate themselves for certain people, not just the other way around.

The event also included the groundbreaking and foundation-laying of the Oba Prof Adeyemi Obalanlege E-Library, led by the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who represented Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Jagunmolu Tayese of Ota, Awori Kingdom, Mudasiru Obasa; a former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Salmat Badru; former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi; Senators Akin Odunsi and Gbolahan Dada; the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi; the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo (who was represented by the Otun Egbaland, Seriki Egbaland, and Akogun of Egbaland); as well as the Osolo of Isolo, Oba Abdukabir Agbabiaka, and Alara of Ilara, Oba Ogunsanwo.

The event was a testament to the vibrant cultural heritage and deep respect for monarchs in Nigerian society. The Olota’s fifth coronation anniversary was celebrated in style and will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.
