Tinubu Speaks on APC Crisis ahead of 10th NASS Leadership

President-elect of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reassured members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the party will not have a repeat of the opposition outfoxing them as was experienced in the leadership crisis that rocked the 8th National Assembly. This disclosure was made by National Vice Chairman of the APC Southwest, Isaac Kekemeke, who represented Tinubu at a lecture organized to honor Chief Reuben Fasoranti on his 97th birthday over the weekend.

Tinubu affirmed that the leadership crisis in the party can still be resolved before the inauguration of the National Assembly. He allayed the fear of opposition hijacking the leadership of the Assembly, stating that the President-elect and the party are working hard to address the issues being faced by the party.

It will be recalled that the APC endorsed Senator Godwill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abbas for the positions of Senate President and House of Representative Speaker. This move has caused other aspirants for the 10th NASS leadership to threaten boycotting the party.

During the 8th National Assembly leadership crisis, the ruling APC lost out on controlling the legislature, with Bukola Saraki and Hon Yakubu Dogara emerging as winners of the National Assembly leadership position against the party’s wishes. However, Tinubu maintains that the party will do everything possible to prevent history from repeating itself.
