Kalu can’t be Senate president due to low performance from Southeast – Adamu Garba

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC Adamu Garba has said the former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzo Kalu may be qualified but won’t emerge the president of the 10th senate following the party’s low performance in the South-East.

Adamu who spoke on Monday while featuring on Arise Television’s morning show, expressed confidence that the Chief Whip of the senate would step down from the senate presidency race.

Media Talk Africa recalls that the APC National Working Committee had zoned the position to the South-South, with Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and Barau Jubrin of Kano State chosen for Senate presidency and deputy, respectively.

However, supporters of Kalu have insisted that the position be zoned to the South-East region, projecting the Chief Whip as the best candidate for the position.

But Mr Garba said on Arise TV that the lawmaker should first organize the people of his region for proper alignment with the ruling party.

He said, “I am hundred percent confident that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu will withdraw from the race for the senate presidency.

“He is qualified but the performance from the South-east is considerably very low. He should find a way to organize the South-east so that they can mainstream with the APC strongly”.
