Actor and activist, Mr. Macaroni, comments on Seun Kuti’s arrest

Following the arrest of Seun Kuti by the Nigerian police, actor and activist, Adebowale Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, spoke out against police brutality. Macaroni took to his Twitter page to condemn the attack on the officer who was slapped by Kuti, while also calling for Kuti’s rights to be respected during his quest for justice.

Macaroni highlighted the need for the Nigerian police to apply swift justice when citizens are harassed and brutalized by officers. He stated that while he condemns the assault on police officers, he also condemns any maltreatment against Seun Kuti.

Expressing hope that the police understood how it feels to be brutalized, oppressed, and humiliated, Macaroni emphasized the importance of treating everyone with respect and dignity. He urged the police and citizens to work together to encourage good and shun evil to achieve a better society.

Kuti was granted bail by the Magistrate Court in Yaba on Tuesday, with the requirement that he produce two sureties who own landed properties in Lagos State. The court also ordered the police to wrap up their investigation within 48 hours.
