Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has ordered all political appointees to hand over the affairs of their various organisations on or before Friday, May 26, 2023. The directive includes Commissioners, Special Advisers, Chief Executive Officers of Government-owned companies, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Personal Assistants, Board Members, except Kano State Civil Servants holding the positions of Executive Secretaries of parastatals or government-owned companies.

A statement was issued by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Research, Evaluation, and Political Directorate, Bilikisu Shehu Maimota, on Monday, stating that the governor directed the appointees to hand over their responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries, Director of Administration and General Services, or Director of Personnel Management as the case may be.

The statement highlighted that the directive is in line with established procedure, as the second tenure of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is expected to expire on May 29, 2023. However, public officers appointed into tenure-based organizations and whose tenure has not expired are advised to continue holding office as stipulated by the relevant laws governing their appointments.

Governor Ganduje expressed gratitude and sincere appreciation for the contributions of the outgoing appointees towards the development of the state.
