17-year-old Nigerian Student Sets Guinness World Record for Rope Skipping

Philip Solomon, a 17-year-old student of Oyemekun Grammar School in Akure, Ondo State, has been declared the new Guinness World Record holder for most skips on a single foot in 30 seconds. With 153 skips, he surpassed the former record holder, Rasel Islam from Bangladesh, whose record was at 145.

After four months of waiting, the Guinness World Record officially recognized Solomon’s feat on Tuesday. According to the Guinness World Record website, Solomon was inspired by Rasel Islam’s previous record and has been training for the attempt. He was also thrilled to attend a skipping world championship.

Solomon is the second Nigerian schoolboy to set a Guinness World Record for rope skipping this year. In February, Gbenga Ezekiel, a student from Ijapo High School in Akure broke the record for the most skips on one leg in one minute with 265 skips.

With two rope skipping Guinness World Records now held by Nigerian schoolboys, the country is increasingly making a name for itself in the record books.

These young students’ remarkable achievements show that with dedication and hard work, anyone can achieve their goals and even set new records.
