A 70-year-old woman, identified as Mrs. Victoria Olusola, has been gruesomely murdered in her residence in Ondo State.
According to reports, the elderly woman was hacked to death with a machete by unknown assailants who forcefully gained access into her home in the early hours of Monday morning.
It is unclear what the motive behind the attack was, but it is believed the assailants were after valuables as they ransacked the entire house and made away with some of Mrs. Olusola’s possessions.
The incident has left residents of the area in shock and fear, with many expressing concern over the safety of elderly people living alone.
Mrs. Olusola’s remains have been deposited at the morgue while the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
This brutal incident underscores the need for improved security measures to protect vulnerable members of the society, particularly the elderly and those who live alone. The police must intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice, to serve as a deterrent to other criminals.
It is important to raise awareness about the dangers of leaving vulnerable individuals unattended, and for neighbors to look out for each other and report any suspicious activity. Together, we can create a safer and more secure community for all.
