All vehicles returned to former Zamfara governor, Matawalle – Police confirm

In a surprising turn of events, all the vehicles seized by the Zamfara State Police Command from former governor Bello Matawalle have been returned to him. This news comes after the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the development on Saturday.

Abubakar explained that the vehicles were returned in compliance with an order from the Federal High Court in Gusau. The court, presided over by Justice Aminu Bappah-Aliyu, had directed all security agencies to return the vehicles within 48 hours. These vehicles had been removed from Matawalle’s properties in Gusau and Maradun by security operatives on the order of the state government.

“Yes, the police command has complied with the court order as regards the returning of all vehicles belonging to the former governor, Bello Matawalle,” said Abubakar.

He further assured that all the vehicles have been safely returned to the premises of the Federal High Court in Gusau.

Earlier, Suleiman Idris, spokesperson to Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, had revealed that more than 40 vehicles were recovered from the two houses of the former governor. He confirmed that the security agencies took action based on the directive of the state government.
