In a personal letter addressed to Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, former Enugu North Senatorial District aspirant Hon Chinedu Eya has called for a fair distribution of political offices across all zones.
Eya, who obtained the letter by Media Talk Africa, commended the governor for his recent appointments of competent individuals to contribute to the governance of the state. However, he stressed the importance of caution in ensuring that power is distributed evenly, to avoid creating resentment and disaffection among followers.
Addressing Governor Mbah, Eya stated, “While I commend you for your recent appointments of competent and intellectually capable individuals, the key positions should have been distributed differently to avoid any perception of bias between zones. It is important to prevent disaffection and distrust among your government.”
He further explained that following the recent appointments of Chief Staff, SPAs, SSAs, and SAs, there have been verbal conflicts among individuals from different zones, expressing concerns about the perceived lopsidedness in the appointments.
“I have witnessed people who believe they contributed significantly to your election victory being derided and insulted for standing up for you during the elections, following the announcement of the list,” Eya revealed.
In light of this, Eya made a passionate plea to Governor Mbah to spread future appointments across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) and zones of Enugu State. By doing so, he believes that every individual would feel a fair and just sense of belonging, as no region or zone can lay claim to a monopoly of competent and qualified individuals in the state.
Eya emphasized his belief in politics of inclusivity and proper representation. These principles were the driving force behind his aspiration to represent the Enugu North Senatorial zone in the Senate. However, he expressed disappointment in not achieving his goal.
The letter concluded with Eya expressing his kind regards and best wishes, as he and others look forward to a prosperous Enugu State under Governor Mbah’s leadership.
