In anticipation of the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi, has once again expressed the team’s ambition to achieve a commendable performance.

The Super Falcons, who have claimed victory as African champions an impressive nine times, will be among the 32 teams contending for the prestigious title in the forthcoming tournament, which will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

Randy Waldrum’s side has been drawn into Group B, alongside Canada, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland.

It was in the last edition of the World Cup, held in France four years ago, where the Super Falcons managed to reach the Round of 16 but were unable to advance further as they faced a strong German team.

Ebi, who will be making her sixth appearance in the World Cup, possesses unwavering confidence in the abilities of her team, stating that the West Africans will surpass their previous achievements in the competition.

Speaking at a farewell dinner held in Abuja on Saturday night, the 40-year-old captain declared, “I want to assure Nigerians that when we go to Australia, we are not just going to participate, but also to surpass our previous record. I firmly believe that we will make Nigerians proud.”

The Super Falcons are scheduled to embark on a 15-day training tour in Melbourne, Australia, departing on Sunday.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will commence on July 20th and conclude on August 20th.
