Abia: Traditional rulers called upon to expose criminals in their domains, says Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has called upon traditional rulers in the state to assist in maintaining peace and security within Abia.

During a meeting held at Government House, Umuahia, on Tuesday, Otti emphasized that his administration has zero tolerance for insecurity and will take a tough stance against criminals and their supporters.

Otti also issued a warning, stating that any traditional ruler whose domain is used as a hideout for criminals would face consequences.

He stated, “Silence in the face of iniquity is also a crime in itself. So, when you see something wrong going on in your community and you look away, that means you are supporting what is going wrong. The new and improved Abia cannot be achieved without major inputs from stakeholders like you, our respected royal fathers.”

The governor stressed that development can only occur when there is a collective effort to ensure the security of lives and property. He further stated, “Our state must remain crime-free so that our people can go about their businesses with peace of mind and that is exactly where you come in.”

Otti assured the traditional rulers that their valuable advice and guidance would be essential in the governance of the state, referring to them as strategic partners.
