The Kaduna State Government has disbursed a total sum of N205 million to various tertiary institutions in Nigeria as scholarships for students from Kaduna State. The funds were released through the Kaduna State Loans and Scholarship Board and have been deposited into the accounts of the beneficiary institutions.
The tertiary institutions that received the scholarship funds include Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Bayero University in Kano, and Kaduna State University in Kaduna.
Hassan Rilwan, the Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Loans and Scholarship Board, expressed the government’s commitment to promoting educational excellence and supporting students in the face of economic challenges.
“In furtherance to implementing deliberate initiatives to promote educational excellence and cushion the effects of the current economic realities on students, the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board has announced the transfer of the sum of N25 million into the accounts of Bayero University Kano for the tuition fees till graduation for students from Kaduna State,” Rilwan stated.
The transfer of funds to Bayero University Kano is in line with a previously signed memorandum of understanding between the institution and the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board.
Furthermore, the Kaduna State Loans and Scholarship Board has disbursed a total of N183.6 million to various schools across Nigeria for the benefit of Kaduna State students. The board is also seeking to establish agreements with other institutions such as Kaduna Polytechnic, University of Jos, ATBU Bauchi, and Kaduna State College of Nursing.
Notably, the Kaduna State Government, under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, has taken steps to reduce school fees in state-owned tertiary institutions. This decision is in line with the promises made during the campaign and is part of the government’s commitment to providing accessible education for all.
