Super Falcons star Plumptre gets heroic welcome at new club Al-Ittihad

Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre received a warm welcome from her Al-Ittihad teammates as she trained with them for the first time.

Plumptre linked up with the Saudi Arabia Professional Football Women’s League side this week.

The 25-year-old joined the Tigers on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season.

The centre-back turned down offers from several English clubs including Manchester United to play in the Middle East.

It is the second time Plumptre will be playing outside England following a stint in the United States of America with LA Galaxy in 2019.

The Nigerian has been assigned jersey number 22 by her new club.
