NEMA Reacts to Collapse of 3-Storey Building in Lagos

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has responded to the recent collapse of a three-storey building at 14 Ikpoh Street, Surulere, Lagos. Thankfully, no casualties were reported in the incident, according to Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Territorial Coordinator for NEMA.

The collapse occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Friday night. Luckily, all the occupants of the building were able to escape before it completely collapsed. Mr. Gervase Anyanwu, a businessman and resident of the building, confirmed that everyone gathered at a designated spot and evacuated safely. He mentioned hearing a large sound in one wing of the building shortly before its collapse.

Grateful for their safe escape, Anyanwu attributed the immediate evacuation to divine intervention. However, another resident of the street revealed that the building had exhibited signs of distress prior to its collapse.

Currently, the excavation of the rubble from the collapsed building has not yet begun. Nevertheless, all relevant government emergency agencies are present at the scene, ensuring a coordinated response.
